The First Major Power Innovation in a Century

A timeline of breakthroughs in fuel-to-power generation efficiency

1698~1712
Steam Engine
Modern Max. Efficiencies: 10–15%
Early steam engines laid the groundwork for mechanical power and industrialization.
1551~1928
Turbine
Average Modern Max. Efficiencies: 35-40%
Compact turbines improved efficiency and now dominate aircraft propulsion. Combined natural-gas & steam turbines may attain 56% total large-scale power plant efficiency at full load.
1794~1876
Otto Cycle (4-Stroke) Engine
Modern Max. Efficiencies: 18–40%
The Otto engine powers personal transportation and small-scale electric generation.
1895
Diesel Engine
Modern Max. Efficiencies: 43–55%
High efficiency enabled Diesel engines to become a workhorse for heavy-duty and backup power applications.
2025
PowIRgen – ThermoPhotoVoltaic (TPV) Cell
Max. Efficiencies: 53–65%
PowIRgen TPV once again rewrites the landscape of global mobile and stored power. Efficiencies are highest at aircraft cruising altitudes and in thermal batteries. All solid-state generation yields low noise and near-zero maintenance.

What We Do

PowIRgen modules transform heat to electricity using specially constructed 'solar' cells.
We use ThermoPhotoVoltaic (TPV) principles, adding innovative optics to attain high efficiencies.
PowIRgen technology can get >54% efficiency from high-temperature industrial heat or burning fuels, outperforming car, truck and aircraft engines.
What We Do

INCREASE PROFITABILITY & PERFORMANCE

  • More than Halved Fuel Consumption
  • Minimal Maintenance
  • Reduced Emissions, both Chemical and Thermal
  • Zero Vibration and Noise

Aircraft

>4km altitude yields cryogenic
efficiency boost to ~70% for
less than Mach 2 airspeeds

Land, Sea Vehicles

Roughly double efficiency of
truck diesels; similar to largest
marine engines but with greatly
reduced maintenance

Stationary MW-scale power

1.4~2x diesel peak efficiency
Comparable peak efficiency to combined-cycle turbines but with
lower maintenance, higher low-load efficiency, & shorter startup time

PowIRgen's MODULAR GENERATOR CORES

Stack: 1 - 2 meters long, ~200mm diameter;
stack red elements to set power level.
Output: 33kW - 100kW
  • Solid-state technology converts heat to electricity without moving parts.
  • Power output can be tailored to application needs with stacked core blocks.
  • Modular Core Arrays permit maintenance of any module without losing system power.

Why Now?

PowIRgen builds upon
TPV technology's accelerating developments:

The next step: combine the above to
generate electricity at world-beating efficiency from heat

Semi Fab Impact:
A unique opportunity for legacy equipment

Partners can fully utilize older fabs with 100nm line-width
capabilities – indefinitely.

Our technology has stable feature sizes and the energy / mobility
market has high inherent demand.
